Jewellery Care Guide
Our jewellery is made of solid gold, which means it will not rust or stain green on the skin! Like all good quality products, solid gold still needs a little TLC (tender loving care) and it is important to know how to keep it bright and long-lasting.
General Care
Solid gold jewellery is safe to wear in water and moisture will not cause any damage.
However, to keep it bright and long-lasting, we would recommend to:
Avoid wearing it when you’re swimming or showering.
Avoid applying your cosmetics, moisturisers, hair products before wearing your jewellery. (always wear jewellery with clean hands!)
Do not spray perfume directly onto or around your jewellery.
Avoid impact with hard surfaces, which would protect it against scratching and chipping.
Prolonged exposure to chemicals from chlorine, body wash, your natural oils or other products, can lead cause your gold to lose its shine overtime.
Cleaning
You can gently wipe your jewellery with a microfibre cloth (provided in our pack) to remove any unwanted chemicals or dust particles on the surface.
If you wear your solid gold jewellery frequently, a simple polishing cloth will have your solid gold jewellery looking bright and shiny again. You can purchase the specialised jewellery cloth here.
Important:
Remember: Please wash your hands after using a specialised jewellery cloth as it contain chemicals that enhance the cleaning process.
Don’t worry: The black marks on the cloth as you wipe away means that the chemicals in the cloth is interacting with your jewellery.
One last note: Please do not wash the cloth in water, keep it dry!
From time to time again, you may want to book in for a professional polish and it will bring back the lustre to your metal if your polishing cloth doesn’t do the job. We offer this cleaning service, and you can reach out to help@byotto.com.au to request this.
Storage
If you are not wearing your jewellery, it is a good idea to thoroughly clean and polish your pieces before tucking it away. It is recommended to store your pieces separately inside their own dedicated pouch or wrapped to avoid any scratches.
You can store it in the Byotto pouch and box provided.
